Who is the sender/ creator of the message?
Identify and evaluate credibility, reputation, etc.
Q. What: content
What is the message trying to say?
Q. Why: purpose
Why did the sender create this piece of media?
Is there any hidden purpose behind the creator or message?
2. Be Critical
Think before you believe or spread it.
Distinguish satire vs reality, propaganda vs news.
Determine bias, understand implications
Understand purpose, motive, especially for content published under large corporations
Check the facts: official website, government site, organizations with authority, reliable newspapers, statistics
Compare: If it is a controversial subject, find another article that contains different perspectives
3. Take Actions
If information provided is misleading or incorrect and harmful to the masses, you can always contact authorities.
Ex) Korea Consumer Agency, Korea Communications Commission, Ministry of Food and Drug Saftey, etc.
Spread awareness about misinformation through the platform YOU are given as an individual.
